I have a chocolate chip star that hasnt moved in 4 days, has gotten thinner ever since the day he came home, and is starting to develope funny looking spots on him. The star is about 4 to 5 inches in diameter and was fairly thick. If anyone can help please. I dont really wanna loose him.

The first thing to consider is if you acclimated him properly. All starfish are very, very sensitive to changes in salinity. How did you acclimate him? If it isn't done right they will start to disintegrate....
If you feel that you did the acclimation properly the next thing to consider is that he is starving. Have you fed him anything? Try giving him an open clam (raw, you can buy this at the grocery store).

Good luck!

choco stars are one of harder ones to keep try to do some research on them before buying they are hard to take care off even for more experianced hobbiestsass 55g said they are sensitive to salinity changes check your salinity make sure its staying at a stable measurment

i might have been lucky, my choco is crazy. my baby cousin opened the bag and put him in after like 5 minutes in the bag, not even (she was standing on a chair looking at him)..and hes done amazing, he practically begs for food. he crawls up the side of the glass, and only holds on with 2 of his legs (the other 3 just kinda float with all his little tentacles movin around), and i drop mysis onto him and he gobbles em up. pretty neat to watch..once in awhile ill give him a ghost shrimp..

well hes been in the tank for a month now. salinity doesnt fluctuate much at all, and has always been the same since i put it in there. i tried putting a peice of shrimp under him and he started eating it, so now i dont know.
