my starfish looks like its getting smaller, and losing its dark pigmant and turning white on the tips, waters ok fish softies are fine, it about 1yr old. any thoughts. thanks

start giving it meaty foods at least once a day. why are you still reading? you should be running to the LFS already ;)

If it is already withering away, it is most likely too far gone to recover. You'll want to feed it meaty, highly nutritious foods. various shrimp tend to work out well.

what is the best food for them.

mine comes to the top for krill. He stopped coming to the top, so i assumed it was eating else where. then one day he did come up and a lot of the skin on the bottom side deteriorated to the white skeleton. that was 11/17/06. It took about 2 months but now it is completely regenerated and healthy again. The new skin is a little lighter, but other than that unnoticeable. good luck, from what i read mine is a special case, most don't recover.

Im pretty suer that star isnt reef safe. But will eat shrimp. try placing right by tentical.Break up in a few pieces also.
