Choosing an acclimation box

Been researching this... Reef Gently makes one called the AccliMate Pro that has tubing so you can control flow to slowly exchange water and hangs on the outside. Then there are the ones that attach inside the tank with slits in the box that allows water exchange at it's own rate. Wondering if I could get opinions on what you folks have used and which seems to be most effective. The hubby likes the AccliMate Pro so he can control the drip rate, I agree with him, as this also keeps the lfs water from mixing with our tank water.

Opinions.....?

The reef gently is a dual purpose box. It's use for drip acclamation as well as you can take the container from the inside to stick inside tank to use as a isolation box so fishes can get use to each other before release.

I prefer an inside acclimation box as well. IMO it also allows the other fish to see the new addition and not let them harass and kill the new fish. If I find the aggression cannot be dealt with I don't have to tear apart my tank to catch the new fish.

I use a $14 clear breeding / acclimation box from PetSmart. No over thinking, just add air pump and hang on outside of tank. Discard water before it runs into tank.

I made my own. It's pretty simple and much cheaper than the reef gentle box.

And like most, I prefer the in-tank type

I think we are talking about a isolation box and not acclamation. The reef gently allows you to drop acclimate to adjust to water changes while the others are referring to a isolation box to isolate new additions

I would never try to mix the water from a store or LA with my tank water. Alot of stores will use copper or other treatments in their fish systems. I drip acclimate for 45 min in a bucket then use an acclimation\isolation box in my tank for above mentioned reason.

The thing with the reef gently acclimate box is that it's suction on the out side of tank for drip acclamation then you can take the inside container and suction it to tank for isolation.

I know this is not going to go over well but oh well.
I've been in this hobby 20+ years and I have never acclimated a fish, except floating bag to get temp close, and I have never lost one because of it. Most of the time temp adjustment is not needed either. The fish are stressed enough traveling 1/2 way around the world put in a small box with people looking and poking at them all day only to be caught again put in a small bag. The sooner you get them in their permanent home the better. Just my thoughts.

Tree... everyone has an opinion based on their own experience, which is what I am looking for so I have all sides and can make my decision. I, personally, don't like putting LFS water in my tank. I have no idea what issues they may be having but are hiding well and are treating with chemicals that could potential harm my tank inhabitants. Thats my my preference. I agree with your view on how stressed the fish already are going from tank to tank to box to truck to tank, etc... but that stress can cause issues too which is why I want to take more precautions because these aren't .20¢ goldfish. And of the fish are trying to kill each other through a plastic box I can bet what will happen without the box.

I appreciate everyone's opinions and thoughts on this subject, please keep them coming!!

I have the acclimate pro and it makes acclimating a set and forget thing. Also comes with a divider and a top for the jumpers
