chrisfont23's LPS tank

They are extremely difficult. Polyps on both sides with a symbiotic relationship to the sponge. Non photosynthetic, meaning these need to be fed. And to make it worse, they're about $100 a pop. That one was $120 and I managed to talk the guy down a little.

I bought it an an LFS on Long Island. I was there today. They have no more.

Sweet tank. What kind of camera do you have? Love the torch. Must have some nice flow in there

Thanks. I am using a Cannon Rebel T3i... basic lens. Looking to upgrade my lens to a macro a little later this yr. The camera really helps pick up the colors accentuated by my LEDs. I run blues/whites and royal blues/magentas, so the colors really pop.

Flow is nothing spectacular. For my tank - basically LPS - I have found too much flow to be my enemy. So I use 2 MP10s at about 1/2 the max output each. That plus my return gives me about 1200-1500 GPH variable, as the MP10s have a nice ebb and flow to them that makes for irregularity. I think that's the key.

The torch is actually not doing so well. I know - the pictures don't show it, but there is some tissue recession going on and I am trying my hardest to pull it thru.

I see them on the stock list that my buddy gets for way less then that but I'm nervous to see how they would bring them in...I may try one....

Look at it this way. If you buy it knowing it's going to die in a yr or so, what do you have to lose? You just have to make sure they're handled properly. Cannot hit the air or they simply start to decline, from what I am told. Since there is no way to tell this from 'x' to your LFS, you need to make sure you do this.

I have the same camera, the pictures looked familiar. Have you messed with white balance? Still learning how to use it. It picks up a lot of magenta for me

Sorry to hear about your torch. Alk or heat issues?

Not sure really. Alkalinity has always been stable. Funny thing is - whatever happened affected a few trumpets directly below it too. Here's a pic. Any ideas are welcomed:
