For the Christmas meeting, I was thinking maybe we should turn that into a fun party? So maybe doing an elephant gift exchange like we did several years back?. Have a large raffle :D rare only swap? I am sure Ken has some fun ideas too and will add to this.

As for food, maybe we can do a wine/beer/soft drink finger food pot luck?:fish2:

Anyway let brain storm and turn this into a fun fun fun party :celeb1::celeb1:

btw, my big TV is dead so does anyone has a projector that we can use for the reef nutrition demo?

I can provide Abb, fish and urchin! =)

I like the white elephant idea.

got a question on my dendro...I won it about 2 months ago and i have been target feeding it like crazy the two heads eat full mysis but i have not had any new heads pop up. The existing heads have almost doubled but what can i do to get more heads to grow? It is near the bottom of my tank. It think this is where they like it right?

Shane, Denro grow in spurt, keep feeding it and you should see the tissues grow and wrap all the way around the head and base, that is a sign of a healthy denro, and the new growth will start at around the base. Also from what I've seen, they love lights, mine is at the upper 2/3 of my tank and I have 250watt halide.

Abs sounds great, I can help cook it up for ya if you like, or sashimi and wasabi. Just drop by early and I will help you prepare it. The fishies we can bake or fry, and the urchin ... RAW.... :D

haah tanks Tom, I'll see how the weather is that morning and maybe make a trip out for abb. I'll put it on my frag rack....when i had it on the top it kept the tentacles closed until the lights went out so i thought it didn't like it.

During the day the tentacles does retract but once it is used to your feeding, they will come out. I've seen them open all day long at an lfs in the bay area and they have it right below the water line next to the blue tort.

We have our own projector so I'll let Randy know to pack it up :)

If your into giving him gifts, he likes Gewurztraminer :) I'm a red kind of guy myself

We'll bring stuff for the raffle as well :D

Gresham, thats cool, I don't have to worry about projector then.

Wine/gift and Christmas goes hand in hand :D we got some wine people here I am sure we can come up with something worth your while :D

Hey what is the date for the Christmas meeting. I need plenty of time to trade at work if it is on a Saturday. Or if it is later in the day, to bribe them to let me work an early shift. Thanks.

Oh please oh please do some Ab heart sashimi :)

I've been so busy I never made it out this year despite buying my ab card early on :(

the season ends at the end of this (NOV) month so i can get it and save it if someone else will clean and cook it. After I dive and clean my dive stuff i don't feel like cooking. GreshamH if you or anyone else wants to come LMK. I usually go to at least Fort Ross and spear fish too for about 2hrs in the water. It starts to get pretty cold after that. I'll make sure to bring my speargun this time and get soem good fish. Last time i got some dinkers casue i had to use a hawian spear pole. (Very hard, cave man style) So when are we doing this?

Shane, cleaning it is not that bad, just let me do the work for ya and then we can sashimi it (I have a japanese sashimi knife set). If you are going to freeze the ab, the best way is to leave it in the shell put the whole thing in a ziploc bag and freeze it that way.

Chris do you have any white wine in stock for the abs I think your Pezziking fune blanc will go perfect? LOL I have red but no white. This is going to be a fun party.

sounds good I'll freeze it in the shell, what a hard death....anyway i can clean it but cutting the black off is the part i don't like just cause it takes so long and it's hard to cut. I have a deli slicer so i can bring that unless you want to cut it a special way for sashimi. Sounds like a party is comin to town...followed by Mr. Clause

No deli slicer for sashimi. You cut the heart of the meat out for that :) Knife works best. The DS works great for doing ab rolls and the likes though :)

I normally do above Salt Point. Been going up there since 90 and have been ab diving since the mid 80s :) I as well always bring my H.S. to nail some fish. One big problem I've seen over the last 4 years is the rockfish, mainly blues, have diminished due to our lack of phyto/zooplankton blooms. Hopefully with a lot of rain this year we'll see nutrients kicked back into the water column so the phyto can bloom>so the zooplankton can bloom and our planktivores get fat and happy :)

i might have some as well. got 5 left on my card. Gresham, what do u mean by "the heart of the meat"? i usually trim off alot more than most, and sometimes dont even mess with the abducter muscle. I have been itchin to try new ab recipes so if you've got any good one please feel free to share:D

This is ur brain,:spin3:.....and this is ur brain on ABALONE,:hammer::hammer::hammer::hammer::hammer::hammer:
