Chrysopterus in the 120g now

After a long 4 month wait..they are finally in the 120g :beer:
First two months were for the QT procedure and then another 2 to let my 120 go fallow. They were put in the display tank last night..female went be hind the rocks and male went to the near by cave breathing heavy and laying on his side. Few minutes later his breathing returned to normal and he went behind the rocks with the female. Later on that night, when the lights were off. The female must of sniffed out the bta that is in the tank and decided to sleep there. There isn't enough room for the both of them in that small bta so the male slept next to it. This morning they are both out and about checking out their new home. It was a long wait..but totally worth it knowing I have a healthy pair of Chrysopterus. Pictures are coming later

I so need a new camera or I have some thing set wrong on my camera. Anyways..I took 38 pictures and all of them were blurry. These two are ok but still blurry..I'll try again later.

HP photosmart m415..it has 5.2 MP..its an old digital camera..had it for almost three years. I think we should get a new one soon.

I am just kidding, very beautiful fish. You have much more patients than me and I see it has paid off for you. To keep these babies alive you are going to need to be just as strict with any other new additions (I would suggest no new additions EVER) and you will want to make sure the water parameters are bullet proof. An example being, 2 heaters on an aquacontroller or something that will keep them from destroying the tank if they stick on or off.

Yeah I know if I add anything I have to put it in a QT. These fish going to be the only fish in this tank. I am selling all my other fish on Maast.org. I am thinking about keeping my 24 gallon to quarantine corals before I add them to the 120.

I just got some more PE mysis and rods food yesterday..man I didn't realise how much that food cost..I think it was over $50. I bought this food because I think my chrys colors got a little dull (especially the male) from being under low quality lights for so long.

I agree that Rod's food seems expensive, but it lasts a long time. And I think my clarkii pair has better color now. But, I do know that their eggs were a lot brighter this time. I have used Rod's for a while, but am feeding it more often now.

Just fed everyone the food, they love it of course..and the male is trying to feed the bta. I should have fed them when the bta was inflated.

I picked up two packs ( the normal, and the herbivore mix ) about 2 months ago, and still have over half of each left.

Aren't ya afraid of the food going bad? Do you have some special way to keep the food fresh?

My special way of keeping it fresh is by keeping it in the freezer.

But, no, I am not worried about that, and haven't noticed any issues. The fish love the first part of the pack as much as they love the last part.

Oh .hahahaha you are so funny I was talking about freezer burn..my fish usually stop thinking the food is good after a month in the freezer. Maybe this stuff lasts longer in the freezer than the hikari mysis shrimp. I wish my food saver vacuum didn't break.

I think I am funny, but it seems that I am the only one.

I haven't had any issues with freezer burn. I make sure that all ( most ) of the air is out of the package before I close it back up. And sometimes I will put it in a freezer zip-lock, for another layer of protection.

It may lose some flavor over the months, but everyone goes so crazy for it that any loss wouldn't really be noticed. It is the one food that will get my Nass snails out of the sand bed within seconds of the food hitting the tank.

if you are able to maintain the bright yellows and oranges of your fish through feeding rods food, let us all know. for the most part these beautiful colors are often lost in captive chrysopterus.
