ok, i have two p.s. ciliata. i had them seperated by a divider, but one of them got through. now one of them is carrying around an eggsac..... now what?

no chance for young survival?
remove eggs?
let them take care of them?
do ciliata stay as a pair, or will they eventually kill each other?

P. ciliata do not pair, but they are not particularly aggressive and don't have the weaponry to cause one another severe damage unless they are different sizes and/or one molts. New molts are usually killed so if you keep them together, one will eventually be killed..

Without a good burrow to brood the eggs in, the female will probably lose them. If they do hatch (about two weeks), the larvae will quickly enter the water column and will starve to death in a day or two.

There is no chance that you can rear them. The larvae require a varied diet of small plankton, are very cannibalistic and remain in the plankton for months settling out at around 22 mm.

yeah, i figured as much. but is there a water quality threat with letting them die like that? should i just remove them before that happens?

Often the female will eat the eggs before they hatch, particularly if the mass is damaged or infertile. However, if you have her in a small system that could be disrupted the larvae, I would remove them.
