Cipro treatment and Torn Gig

I received a Gig from Live aquaria. It appeared in good condition and was very sticky. I placed it in the tank and observed it for 2 days. I did have cipro on hand and had the QT / treatment tank filled and ready before it arrived. I was determined to keep this alive!

Day 2 the Gig kept rolling onto its side. It was then I noticed it must have been torn some time ago because where it was torn is now a hole that is surrounded with tenticles just like the top of the anemone...just fewer of them. I pulled the anemone and decided to treat since it kept trying to expose that side and the top of the anemone...Not sure how to place it and it was face down on the sand bed this morning.

It is now on Day 1 of the cipro treatment. Since it is in my bedroom I started treating this morning in the dark room.

I will add pics now.

Anyone seen a tear that healed this way?? It's odd for sure.

2 more that show the tear with tenticles

Anyone have any ideas what to do or how to place it once I finish the Cipro treatment. I is in a 30g High and has a 24" 4 lamp T5 fixture over it. I have no issues keeping it in here as long as needed.

Thank you.

Angie

The quality of the pictures is not great, how ever, it look like your anemone have two oral plates with one foot. He does not look well. Good luck with your treatment.

It does have the light blue / purplish spots on it....they are just very light right now. My camera does not do close up shots well. Sorry

Day 3 Cipro treatment

Day 3 Cipro treatment

I noticed there are actually 3 oral plates...The Gig is looking good and has not moved off of the rock while in the treatment tank. It has not deflated at all. I think the only issue is how it attaches with the extra oral plates needing to be exposed.

I can see the faint blue / purple spots but my camera has a hard time picking them up.

I will continue to treat for 5 days just to be on the safe side. Then I will leave it in QT for another week. IF it stays attached i will move it back to the Display tank and go from there.
