Citron Clown Goby Beige?

Hi All,

Just picked up a Citron Clown Goby from my LFS. Have been pushing them for awhile to get one for me. Watched a lot of youtube vids on this fish and loved the color and personality.

It was beige in the store but their lights over their small fish pods aren't very good so I thought he might look more citron (yellow/orange) under the lights in my tank. Didn't want to be a pain since I had been on them for so long to get one so I bought it. Now that it's in my tank, it's very beige as opposed to yellow or orange. Is there anything I can do to bring out his coloring? Perhaps feeding Selcon? I honestly thought his color would compete with my yellow wrasse, but not even close .

I'll get a pic as soon as he stops hiding behind my LR. Unfortunately I don't have space for a quarantine tank, my LFS held him for a few days to ensure he was looking good and eating well, but I know its always a gamble. I soak all food in Garlic Guard and Selcon in the hopes that it will help my fish fight off disease if it comes to that.

He's looking good, guess I didn't realize how dark he would be but I have since read that they do come in a range of yellow/orange to brown. His blue lines are very vibrant though. Do they get more vibrant as they get older? Would feeding vitamins bring out more color?

I have a dirty "yellow" clown goby in my tank for the last 1-1/2 years, I got it thinking it will turn yellow but it didn't. I just have to live with it until it dies. It's just ugly and I cannot do anything about it

I have a yellow clown goby and he is usually white looking most of the time

My yellow clown goby is the yellowest thing I've ever seen. My lights are heavily actinic/blue which I think helps bring out his color. Citrons are different though. They can be more on the brownish side. Sorry it's not what you were hoping for.

Yeah, I should have read into it more. The one in the photo on LA and some that I saw in youtube video's looked for orangish. Ah well, it is what it is.

Liveaquaria has the most flattering color saturated photos of every fish they sell, so it can definitely be misleading in some cases.
