clam covered in xenia

I inherited a crocea from someone who took down their tank (and obviously didn't take care of it too well). Anyways, there is pulsing xenia all the way around it blocking the clams light and it looks like it is irritating the mantle. The clam is still very responsive to movement but parts of the mantle look a little lighter than others.

What would be the best way to remove the xenia without bothering or harming the clam? I tried to pull some off with my hand but it's very slippery.

Thanks in advance -adam

Once you get an edge up either way, you should be good to go. It peals off with some effort. Don't be afraid to take the clam out of the water for a minute if necessary to make it happen.

Make sure you keep the xenia, lots of people want it you know.

Good luck, Kevin

xenia sucks, i thought it was cool how it moved in the beggining but then i went from a stock of it to like 10 stocks, so i cut it out and traded it :)
