Clam filter

I read at Dr. Mac Corals website (http://www.drmaccorals.com/sys-tmpl/oursystems/) that he uses a clam filter. Anybody have any experience with or comments about that? Reference to a good info source?

I have a fairly elaborate semi-commercial set up in my garage and could consider devoting one of the sumps to a clam filter if it was warranted. I have an unused 175W MH fixture I could devote to it.

There was a study by Dr. Richard D. Braley using one gigas and two hippopus clams. The clams acted as an excellent natural biofilter. Try this website www.omnicom.com.au/aquasearch/biofilt.htm
