Clam help needed

i have a Crocea clam in my 10 gallon tank and my yellow watchman goby loves to spit sand all over it.
my questions are:

1. Can the clam spit out the sand if it goes into its mouth?

2. Is there a way to get him to release his footing? hes attached himself to the bottom glass. that way i can move him out of the way of my goby's projectile sand spitting.

they can kinda spit it out.

tip the clam over to one side so you can see the byssal thread and then take a sharp knife and cut the threads as far away from the clam as you can
