Clam hybridization

A friend of mine picked up a clam for me last week. It is a little different from the other clams that I have. It appears to be a Deresa/Crocea hybrid. I have seen other clams with hybrid qualities on Fishy Business's website.

I wonder if this is becoming common.

Hmm... I sorta doubt it would be a Derasa/Crocea mix. Clams that are hybrids become so with more relative clams... like a common hybrid is the Maxima/Crocea which are more related by environment. A possible hybrid with a Derasa might be the Gigas or Squamosa (being real vague here).
