My new clam keeps hopping off the rock I put him on. I tried the sand and he keeps knocking himself over. Should I just let him find his own space, even if it means him laying on his isde for days?

Clams do that when not happy. Where is he placed in regards to lighting and flow? Was he acclimated well in terms of chemistry? Also, if the lighting he came from was different, did you acclimate him to the lighting?

Best of luck!

Lighting is the same, was acclimated to chemistry, I know he does not like where he is. Should I leave him alone and let him find his own way?

I remember that when I tried to put the clam at where I wanted in my tank (see my tank picture and you will understand, I have a little "platform" designed for it), it kept falling to the sand. But I kept putting it to the place I wanted. After about 5 to 6 tries, it finally stayed there and attached to the rock. Also, I think that some clams can be put on rock while others prefer the sand. What kind do you have?
