clam mantle extending

my croceas have been extending thier mantle out and up. i cant really rememebr a time when they havent but, my others do not do it. i have one maxima and one derasa. i was wondering if they were trying to reach for more light. any opinions??

how deep is your tank and what lighting do you have?

29g, it is 18 inches, i have 175w 14k and two 65w power compact actinics on it. the clams are almost side by side and are half way up. thanks

i think that lighting should be fine. do you have a lot of flow? some times that will make them hold there mantles like that

i have medium to high flow in the tank. should i worry about moving them or leave them be?

if the clams have good color and are growing then i would leave them be

My corcea also do this and my lighting is fine (250 watt halide with 2 65 watt pc's over 24 inches of water) I think it has something to do with flow...

It's funny because I have 2 x 4" Electric Crocea's in my 180 reef w/175mh and 4 x 6' VHO actenic and both of them have great mantel extention. As my freind has 250mh and his clams don't get the extention on the mantels but his grow a lot faster than mine.
So I guess if it's not broke then don't try to fix it.
