i got a crocea from my lfs about a week ago, it looked fine when it was at the store...
and hes in my tank now under 3x175w MH.
i leave atinics on 24/7 and MH for about 6-8 hours.
he looked good the first day or 2 and his mantle? was out and pretty
but today and the past 2 days hes not coming out very far at all...
my calcium was low and i dosed, should be about 400-20 right now..
salinity-1.023
ph-8.4
nit/nitra/amm-0
phosphates are visible, could that be why?

salinity is low but crocea's can handle this ( still far better to correct and keep stable )

what, how much and how did you dose for Ca & Alk???

please post your fish / invert list??

and a pic if you can, they say it's worth a thousand words :)

havent tested for alk in a lil, last i checked it was in the "normal range" according to the test charts...is there a more specific test kit for that avail?
Ca i dosed the capful per 40gallons...brightwell aqu A&B.
right now a yellow tang, convict tang, and naso tang, 5 black clowns, 6line wrasse, firefish, mandarin, and hermit crabs, few snails, and the new black trigger. havent seen anything even near clam besides the hermit.

Not sure exactly how it attaches but if it is on a hard surface it should attach to it. If it is not attached it could be a sign of stress. Can clams get red bugs?

hmmm ok ill see...its only been on the rock for about 3 days..
im not sure, i know theirs a snail that kills them but no sign.

Why have the atinic's on 24/7, that should drive the clam nuts. They are photosynthetic.

I am hoping I am mistaken but are those tangs all in the 40g and not your 210?

My thought is that the 3 tangs are irritating it trying to find food on the shell, the rockwork looks pretty algae free. Plus a black trigger should have shredded the clam already. For the most part triggers aren't reef safe.

Fish are like kids, they know when you are watching. And when you aren't they are up to no good.

no, i said their in a 180 gallon tank...
im not a newbie =) no worries.
ok ill turn the atinics off..
im highly in doubt the fish are picking on him.
the trigger is brand new, im aware they arent reef safe for the most part but for every rule is an exception.
if i see him do anything, ill move one...
but i HIGHLY doubt it..

Ok, When you said 1 capful for 40g I was wondering, lol. I must have missed the 180g post, I still don't see it, sorry my bad.

In the mean time can you take a plastic pop bottle, cut it in half, fill it with 1/4" holes for water circulation, then place it over the clam to shield it. If it looks better in a day or two then you know you have a nipping fish.

good idea ill try it...
i turned atinics off also
i think hes a lil bleached but he was like that already..hes in good light..
