clam not happy?

i have had many clams before but i cant seem to figure out what this one wants. i have a 75 gal (w/sump and refuge about 110gal) and 2x250w XM 20k SE MH bulbs. i currently only have 1 crocea clam in the tank that is perched on a flat piece of LR mid to upper tank. i purchased a 6'' maxima clam a while ago and i cant seem to find a good spot for him. ive tried a dozen different locations and he never stays put. if i put him on the LR, he jumps off and does a nose dive in the sand. if i set him on the sand, he'll uproot himself and settle so that hes almost laying on his side. i dose phyto a few times a week and all water params are perfect. any idea what this guy wants? i have many other corals but none are touching him and no fish are bothering him.

I have a tear drop maxima That will not stand up. Every time I set him up he lays down on his side. He seems to be happy that way so I left him that way.
