clam not looking good...

Have had a crocea for three weeks now. Has been looking great until 6 days ago. Now, mantle is pulled in. It is responsive to shadows. At the same time, our MH ballast went out and we have been waiting on the new one. Could that be the problem? We are currently lighting with VHOs. New ballast should be here Thursday. Water parameters all stable.

He could be adjusting to new lighting. What's the wattage of MH and VHO?

two 95 watt VHO actinic blues and the metal halide is a 10k Hamilton 175. (that's the one that went out)

My crocea closes up every night, so without the metal halides on, maybe your clam is just reacting to the available light. Have you checked at night with a flashlight for those nasty little snails ( I forget what they are called)?
