Clam On The Move, Need Recommendations!

I recently purchased a Crocea Clan and placed it on a small piece of LR near the top of the tank (see picture). It's been moving slightly from where I placed it over the last few days. I placed it facing the front and it turned sideways over night. I decidef to let it reposition it self and move it later once it attached. That said i woke up this morning and it had moved/feel off the LR I placed it on to a partially shaded spot much lower in the tank. My question is does he look happy? Is there enough light/flow? Should i move him again to a higher spot before he attaches? First clam so looking for some guidance. Thanks in advance for your assistance!

is it possible he was getting too much flow up there?

they will move around if they're not happy. too much/too little flow/light. i've also noticed that they like to line up with LEDs to maximize their light.

my crocea is definitely the most mobile and obnoxious of my clams. maybe try a different spot near the top of the rocks, or a larger shelf that's harder to jump from?

Yes might have been too much flow or too much light. Thanks for shareing your experiences, I'll look into replacing the small LR with a larger shelf rock that cradles it more. I would also be OK with leaving him where he is now if you think the conditions are OK.

you won't be able to give a crocea too much light. they are able to handle truly Herculean PAR levels, and should be given them. mine is about 3 - 4" below the water line with AI Vegas hanging about 5" over the water line.

That looks like a Tahitian Maxima to me. If that is a crocea, it has the largest scutes that I have ever seen.

In any case, you will need to get it to attach to something before you can move it up. If you take some two-part putty and make a think disc about as big as the shell - place the clam on it on the bottom and it will attach in a week or two, if happy. Then, you can move the disc wherever you want it to be.
