Clam placement

I am new to clams and have a couple of questions. First, are clams happiest with their food on the ground, or can they be laying on their side? Second, has anyone had problems with cleaner shrimp and clams? My cleaner seems to really like the clam.

Keep them pointed toward the light! Cleaner shrimp are hit and miss IME.
