Clam Question (Urgent)

This is what it most likely looked like, except it was slender. Would this pod thingy harm it?

I would like to thank all of you for your help, this is my 1st reef inhabitant. Also I don't think it has Pyramid snails they are like a tube of a Feather dusted spun in a circle, but VERY tiny, VERY HARd, and cannt be removed (almost as if its part of the shell), doesnt seem to be life in them (doesnt have an entrance hole, and just breaks up if i scrape it with a tweezer).

6-8 maybe if you had halides. I would go longer. And yes if they will not come off then they are not pyramid snails. they are pretty easy to remove. Good luck.

Thanks again, reson I had it set for 6 hours was before this tank (the one i got from my bro) was infested with algae, and had to scrap it. Guess I hate change kind of =P. Anyways, I increased it to 11am-7pm now. and will get it to 10am-8pm Friday and 9am-9pm Monday

I'm thinking about MH, are they worth it for a 20H? If so what Wattage would I need, and would I need an Actinic? If I do go MH, how long do the bulbs last, and for acclimation purposes, shjould I keep it VERY high above the tank slowly lowering it every 1 day acclimate the corals fish and clams?
