clam with bare byssal

hi, my crocea clam just release the rock attch to it's byssal. Now that I just place it on the crush coral substrate, without anything on it's byssal..

Is that ok for it to go with bare byssal, is it neccesary to place a rock on it's bottom so it can dig into it?

I was wondering the same thing. I keep my clams on the substrate with no rocks to attach to. Is this bad?

NooB, after some research, bare bottom clam might be enter by pod or worm more easily, especially if place on the substrate. And that it feels more secure with rock attach at it's bottom.. However my clam is still bare bottom and seems happy with it.

You can let them attach to a small piece of rock rubble & this would help if placing on the substrate. If you have a DSB, then just get a small piece of flat LR that you can find and bury this into the DSB under the placement of the clam. They should attach to the piece eventually.
