Clams and a niger trigger

(also posted in discussion) Ok, I have a Squamosa and a Crocea, I have been really wanting a niger trigger. But not at the price of my clams. Anyone know if niger triggers tend to eat Tridacna clams? Yes I know it will eat shrimps, crabs and snails..no sweat

Despite their overall good nature the Niger is still very hostile towards invertebrates like shrimps and crabs, viewing them solely as a tasty meal. Don't be tempted to keep the Niger with invertebrates ... it won't work out well for the invertebrate!

I wish my niger would eat some of my snails. Had him in my reef for 10 months now with two clams. Doesn't bother anything except a few snails. I wish he'd eat some of those mini snails, but they come out when he's sleeping.

Just my experience, I knew the risk and took the gamble. However, in everything I've ever read, I found no mention of them bothering corals or clams, just shrimp, hermits, and snails.

Ive had one in my tank along with a crosshatch for about a year now. I have yet to have a problem with my clams.

I took the gamble. At the same time the LFS guy is a friend and offered to exchange the niger at anytime should it bother my clams.
