Hey I ordered 30 pounds of live rock from a Florida company and I had a interesting hitchhicker. A clam lol.... He was in the box and I intially thought he was probably dead after the trip but I put him in the tank anyway. Hey decoration maybe or something yanno? Well, he is alive and well... my questions is being I have never owned a clam... is he okay to have in there with my reefs? Any concerns? Do I need to feed this dude? or what do clams even eat? He hasnt moved from where I put him but if he "sees" me he closes up shop quick! Any advice would be great!

We need to know how big it is? Under 3"? There is a significant care difference for clams under 3" this will also determine the proper procedures for tank placement. If its over 3" then it needs strong lighting and will consume calcium. If its under 3" then your best off giving it to a LFS for credit or giving it to someone else who has experience in keeping small clams. If it's under 3" you're probably going to kill it, knowing you have no experience at all with clams. Post a pic so we can determine what kind of clam it is as well.
