Clams closed up

My clams have been in Hypo for 24 hours. Today I did a 50% water change, checked all paramaters, and dosed 700mg of metro.

Here are some pics from a few minutes ago.

I'd really like to hear from an expert as to how they look. I think they look sooo much better.

IMO & IME, I think they look SO MUCH BETTER. No gapping, mantle extension seems to be good.

Do they responed to shadows?

A little washed out but metro will do that but with good lighting, the zoo will come back. I would still leave them in QT for awhile longer.

Good job, DOC! ;)

Your clams look so much better! I suppose I might have to get some Metro and setup a QT tank. I still have several with PM in spite of a few FW dips.

Thanks Barry that'a good news. How much longer do I keep them in QT, in hypo, and dosing with metro? I'm set up to go for a while so it's no problem.

Yes they respond very well to shadows.

They look much better. I went two weeks doing hypo and metro, on my previous bout with PM. They really will brown out severely after treating with metro.....dont be surprised when you see it. They will recover within about a month though.

Tonya's is in hypo right now.....not really happy about it either. Closed up and pouting. Its starting to peek out a bit, but its still sulking.

Nick

They look just like mine did a couple days later. Mine actually opened better than that at first, then went down hill from there.

I'm still fighting this. I can get the clams to open 100% and look great with fresh water dips, but two or three days later they start to close back up. I may have to do the hypo/medication method. They've gone as long as 40 minutes in freshwater and don't seem to mind much. I really thought if I could get them to open back up they could cure themselves...starting to think not.

HOC...So far I've had great results with hypo and meds. (Keeping Fingers Crossed)

I think it was initially a little stressful for them but now they're doing fine.

Jbarone,

Glad that they are doing better.

I would keep them in QT for another week or so as long as you have good lighting.

Do you still have them in water with metro? If so, I would recommend that you slowly do small water changes and replenish with just salt water without metro. IME

I am going to setup a 20 or 30g tank with hypo and metro. Anyone have a pendant I can borrow for light?

250DE, with newer (two months) 10K?

I only have 175 watt ballast though. I might just buy one to have for QT purposes in the future.....probably a wise move.

What's going on now?

The blue one appears to be gaping and the brown/green on has very poor mantel extension.

These are pics from last night.

They are still in hypo, and yestday I did another 50% water change and dosed 700mg to 8gal of water. The looked like the pics above before I did the water change and added the meds.

Jbarone,
no idea what's going on with yours.....I'm guessing they arent liking the hypo and meds.....

Tonya's clam didnt make it. It looked great two days ago, last night looked a little pinched in, like Jbarone's Brown/Green one....

And when I came home from work today at 530 it looked like this:

No idea what happened. The clam is in a 10 gallon tank with heater, ph monitor, and Hagen AquaClear HOB filter. Tank is lit by a 175 MH 10K bulb.

Ph 8.1
Temp 78
Salinity 1.015

Jbarone, I suggest taking your brown/green one, and slowly (several hours) acclimating it to your display tank and see what that does for it.

:sad2: Thank you Nick for taking care of the clam for us. I know it was more than you bargained for and I appreciate your efforts very much. I know you did your best, and a much better job than I could have done. Again, thank you so very, very much. :)

Mine was fine uesterday afternoon when my wife left for work. Today it looks like this....

It was in nooks tank and looked fine for a week. Then 8 days in mine and was fine. My other SPS and clam looks fine.

The wife said it looked great yesterday......... Really kinda bummed I thought after this much time mine was ok.

Mine look Ok but I did lose a gold maxim that was in a buddys tank for 2 years and a blue crocea that I have had for about 3 years :(

So far my Derasa is doing ok but Im starting to fear of losing it also.
