I was wondering what you thought I could do as far as clams go in a RedSeaMax 34g nano tank. I have been reading alot and it seems like some people think I can have the clams with the PC lights I have but I read some posts (ezcompany's post has alot of good info) and maybe that is not such a good idea. I really like the Tridacna Crocea & the Tridacna Maxima clams. Can anyone give me an input if they were able to do these in their RedSeaMax or if I would be able to with the stock lighting? I was thinking maybe if I bult a ledge out of the LR I would be a-ok but I really want them on the bottom. Any input would be great! Thanks, Joe

RedSeaMax specs

Depth: 19.7 inches
2 x 55 watt T5 power compacts (1 watt-liter/4 watt-gallon)
10,000K/Actinic lighting
Electronic ballast
High polish, textured aluminium reflector
Blue LED moonlights
Fan-cooled hood for extended life of electronic components
High transparency, polished lens

They are Powercompacts, RedSea calls them T5's as marketing ploy, if it were true all powercompacts would be called T5. The T#ing is based on the diameter of the bulb

I would be a little hesitant on a Maxima, you might be able to get away with a Crocea, you can always play it safe with a Derasa

with utter and extreme caution. maxima, crocea- definitely no. maybe a derasa, but it will outgrow that small tank in no time.

I would definitely not suggest a clam in a small tank for a beginner (as the title claims).
