clams in a 55

i have 330 watts of VHO on my 55. can i keep a tridacna clam?

i was thinking a crocea or maxima, something that would not out grow the tank

IMO, you need metal halides for those type types. however, im sure there will be others that will disagree.

I can only relate my own experience, but I kept a Crocea on the rocks in a 55+ lighted by 260 watts of PCs, and it did very well for years.

the tankis 18 inches deep

shoud be fine my setup is a 55 running overdriven 40W bulbs and 1 110W actinic with icecap 660. Keep your crocea and max high on the rocks. I have a crocea, maxima, gigas and derasa. maxima it's the oldest in my tank over a year, crocea 11 months
