Thanks buddy, appreciate the compliments coming from you. The cleaner is in fact from Africa.... and about 3 years old now.

Good eye, I saw this too.... The navarchus has been a long story. Came in rather beat up....recovered OK, but always has these weird bloches on his side. The missing tail pieces are new...... not sure who the culprit is....during daylight I see no aggression. So maybe it's an issue when they get ready for sleep?

Love the rock beauty

Thanks, that was a bit of an impulse buy. It was eating pellets at the LFS, and was almost all yellow, with a small black dorsal spot. Obviously it continues to do well, and the black area and dorsal filament have both grown.

It actually prefers pellets (which were fed before the video).

Good to know...I typically avoid cleaners but the Africans do have a rep of being quite hardy- so I snagged the one on dd tonight!
Interesting with the Navarchus as there didn't appear to be any aggression during feeding and that is often the only time I see it in my tanks...she is a beauty though, one of my fav fish esp with juvi coloration...

I have an asfur angel that is very reclusive,,,,though very small. He may be the culprit.

small mouth would match-up with the small missing pieces on her tail...makes sense...

And really, there are basically 2 caves with only the right side of the tank having live rock of any substantial amount. I assume once I add the rest of the rock to the tank things will change...

Love your butterflies collection.
Planning to add more like a xanthocephalus or a semeion?

Good question. I'm not sure.... it's amazing to me how quickly the 240g fills up. And even with avoiding larger species that I so desperately want!!! No queen angel.... no emperor angel.... no chrysurus angel....no clarion or passer... :( :(

I'm thinking I would like to add a xanthocephalus but I'm worried about how the ephippium will react. BTW if you notice, the ephippium in the video is very skinny. He finished cupramine treatment. IME ephippium butterflies are one of those that stop eating with cupramine. This is my third specimen in 20+ years, and all 3 had the same issue during treatment.

I'd like to add smaller fish. I'm thinking a C. madagaskariensis because I think it'd be neat to have the paucifasciatus and madagaskariensis in the same tank.

I also lost a gardineri butterfly after a long battle of trying to get it to eat.... I liked the look of that fish though, so I may try to find a C. selene to replace it.

And finally, since I have a Chelmon marginalis and muelleri, I'm thinking of trying a rostratus... but only an aussie one, since they are so much better looking.

I know what you mean, tank is always never big enough for all the fishes I wanted and I wanted a big school of anthias (evansi, tuka) together with butterflies.

I have a C semeion and he chased and 'flared' at the 2 new ephippium added in, this goes on for 2 days before they all settle down.

Never kept a C marginalis but do not think it's wise to add a C rostratus.
You might ending up needing to separate the 2 fishes.

I tried 2 ephippium, thought it was going well.... ended very badly very quickly. Hope you have better luck with yours :( Overall, I've had zero success truly pairing butterflies....

Awesome video! A while back I had a small asfur that was very aggressive, I ended up selling it. Maybe they mellow out some as they get bigger.
Weren't you thinking about adding a Chaetodon ulietensis or Chaetodon falcula a while back?
I can't wait to see a FTS once you get all the rock in there!

Thanks. I acquired a small falcula at the same time as the dusky and navarchus. Unfortunately it was a timid eater, and the semilarvatus bullied it, so it didn't make it. Not sure I'll try another...

Are you avoiding a clarion due to aggression?
I did not think they were as bad as passers and emps..
