clams out of water

Can clams be out of water when you pick snails off them?If so how long?

Small clams(,2") should not be out longer than 10'. Bigger clams >4" up to 20+" . Brief cleaning for snails is not a problem at all.

when u take them outta water they'll squirt out the water in them, when u put them back in tumble them over themselves in all directions to get rid of any air bubbles that are in them- if u don't they could kill the clam

taking them out of the water is how they actually get them to breed, they induce breeding by stressing the animals by placing them on the beach for a couple of hours in the hot sun and then they put them in water to cool them off and they spawn at dusk.
