Clams under MV lighting

Does anyone know of a reason that I should not hold a large derasa in a tank lit with 125w mercury vapor? I need it out of my tank. I am not worried about the intensity, but the spectrum is quite low as you can imagine.

You probably mean a 175W MV.

You may have a lot of problems with algae due to the very low color of MV lamps.

Intensity wise you should be ok for a derasa

Nope. 125w. The fixture is a Giesemann. Algae problem is a good thing since it is in my refugium pictured below! :) I just wanted to be safe and make sure the low kelvins wont hurt him. I raised the clam from a little guy and wouldnt wanna risk his health! Thanks! Jason

I'm not sure.....what kind of lighting is he under now. With the deep tank, light suspended high, and low K, I would be a little worried.
