Clams

Just a question.... We bought 2 clams yesterday and the guy that got them for us ripped part of the one clams foot off. It seems to be doing ok since we put it down in the sand, does anyone know if they can regrow their foot? It's a beautiful clam and we'll be really ****ed if it dies because of lack of experience on the part on a stores employee!

Where did you buy it? I want to stay out of there.

My experience has been that they have died after the foot was ripped off!!!!! Good luck though. I would take it back and get your money back

They can regrow there foot.
I've seen it done and I know the clam I sold to itzme ripped its foot at his house and it regrew.
Just keep a eye on it, if it starts to go down hill pull the clam out before it fouls up your tank.

We got it in a store in columbia station (I don't want to name any names). The younger kid that works there did it....

It seems to be closing when something comes to close to it so we'll keep a close eye on it and keep our fingers crossed

are you sure it was the foot or Byassal threads, I am guessing the threads in which case it will be fine

I'm not 100% sure it was the foot I just know that we could see thru the bottom of the shell when we took it out of the bag and the other clam we couldn't and the smaller clam with the foot the bottom was all white and the other one had very little white it was almost brownish in color. I did notice a small little foot trying to grab a rock before we put it in the sand....

Clam update

It seems to be getting better. It seems to be burying itself down in the sand a little bit....

Yeah they are a lil pricey but they're nice looking clams

Update

The clam is doing amazingly well!!!! It's opening up fully and is very happy in the sand bed

Sat Amy is coming to take some pics of the tank for us so we'll try to get one up for you guys to see
