Clarion in a reef???

Hey there,

Does anyone have experience with a Clarion in a reef? I'm almost tempted to put one in my 300, but I have very expensive SPS and Chalices in it along with a few large clams.

Is it a certainty that it'll nip at stuff or if I keep it well fed, will it leave everything alone??? Many thanks in advance.

They are pretty aggressive IIRC, I wouldn't doubt that it can and possibly will bully your dwarf angels.

Jeramy on here has a clarion in a reef
I heard thy are much better than queens
Jeramy also had a interrupta in his tank

Wayne clarion can possibly kill all your uber expensive dwarf angel and eat all your uber expensive chalice collection.

To answer your question... NO!

thanks Yurivd. I hope Jeremy doesnt mind. Heres a pic and video of the Clarion.

Wow, thanks for posting the pic and vid! That's amazing. I can always move my expensive corals to my shallow reef in the beginning, but I am worried about my little angels. Man, I need a 4th tank now!

I think "Jawsee" is the king of keeping angels in a reef.

If I remember right
conspic x1
true personifer x2
goldflake x2
blueline angel x2
red sea regals
++ other angels

think so, the smaller and prettier of the 2 went yest afternoon...the larger one went last night....bz still has theirs...

Hey Wayne, my first clarion from the first collection I got back in early 2008 I originally had in my sps reef after quarantine... honestly there is no angel I have problems with in my sps reef... I've kept all genera and currently own 49 angels alone... but I did move this fish a while back to my large fish only and have it now paired up with a second clarion I got last year... they are bruisers... which I know well how to deal with, but honestly I like my reef to be serene... I have most of my angels in reefs, but eastern Pacific Holacanthus are bruisers... so I moved him. I know your tendencies Wayne and we share the same passions... stay away from the clarion... or get another system! :)

Thanks as always guys. Yeah, I think I will err on the cautious side this time, but in the mean time I'll try to talk the wife into letting me put up a FOWLR system. I've always wanted one.

So are they allowing larger numbers of clarions to be exported now?

Sounds like Michael(NYA) had THREE and bluezoo has one. No telling who else had some too.
