Clarki clown and???

It's absolutely not okay to mix clowns unless you have a sizable chunk of the reef under your roof.

It's funny to hear people say they certainly will NEVER get along. I introduced a Clarkii into a 10 gallon tank for a short period of time with my Ocellaris clown, and there was never one nip or act of fighting. In fact, they both now live in a 30 gallon setup together and swim/sleep beside each other.

4 Clowns in a 29 gallon is asking for the death of at least two of them.

I use to say the same kinda stuff when I first joined this site.
"Look at my maroon, clarki's, and false percs all getting along"
Someone said to me check back with us in a few months when they start to mature.
Thought that person was a total jackhole.
Well, guess what, the jackhole was right.
Not 2 months and I got the most beatup scarred clowns you could imagine.
Stressed hard trying to catch what I could b4 they killed each other.
So now I proudly admit my mistakes so no one else has to go through that BS.

Id like to add that it depends on what else is in the tank. I had a pair of ocellaris in my 40 for some time and they never went into the anemone. I added a clarkii to host in it, which he did, but then the ocellaris got the hint and gave him the boot. I added another anemone to the other side of the tank and all three lived very happily for about four or five months until I moved my tank. The clarkiis anemone split and it walked to about the middle of the tank. The clarkii then decided to hog both of them and then decided that all three should be his and picked on my ocellaris untill I took him out. Had the clarkiis anemone not split who knows how long they would have lived together.

I guess that may have had something to do with it too davocean. It could have been just that he matured.

Then one day, like overnight they beat up every fish in the tank really bad.
Maybe they were breeding, don't know for sure, but I didn't want to dedcate my tank to just them.
I use to think a little more loosly on mixing many kinds of fish together.
But when you have to look at scarred fish swimming in your tank it's a bummer.
I'm more conservative now and happy to take advice from those with more experience, and my tank has been much more successful....long term.

Thank you for the examples davocean. I guess I was just challenging the statements originally made, since they seem to be doing so well together. Now that I have actually heard a story like yours of this happening, it helps me to understand that it may happen in time.
It's troubling though, since I like them both, but really want to cut back to one tank.

I'm not advising getting rid of it, just keep to one type or pair of clowns unless you have a HUGE tank.
Some clowns do seem more aggressive, GSM,Clarkis, but you'll always find the exceptions.
I have a maroon that's aggressive, but only to me!(bites the heck out of me).
But I can deal with that!
If you really want something different, take to LFS for store credit.
