Clarkii Clown / Cloudy Eye

I noticed last night that one eye on my Clarkii clown was cloudy. The eye is not bulging and the clown is acting normal, swimming around fine and eating. This also happened in the last couple of days because I was taking pics of the clown this weekend and it was fine.
I've had the clown for over a year and this is the first time I have seen this, any advice for treatment?

I had a flame angel recently with that and I treated it with two different antibiotics for two weeks and it didn't help. The angel did finally die. I'd try a freshwater dip.

Since its 1 eye thats a good sign, chances are the fish scraped it or something. It will usually clear up on its own. If its both eyes then you need to worry. Is the fish still eating well? I had a yellow tang with this problem, It probably took 2 weeks to clear up.

Could be flukes. Are there any new additions to the tank?

If it is flukes, the best treatment is a 10 minute dip in 20% saltwater/80% freshwater - flukes will shrivel up and die (watch the eye and around the gills, you can see them fall off).

Could be a bacterial infection. Do you see any scratches or injury to the eye?

Bacterial is very difficult to treat in a reef environment. You could try to "soak" food in "Metro-" (I forget the manufacturer) and garlic to treat from the inside.

That's good news bigacre, I'll hope it goes that way. Fish is eating and behaving just like before, just has a cloudy eye.

No new additions Doubledown and I can't be sure if there were scratches, he moves around a lot.

My cinnamon clown has the same thing....don't know what happened....He's fine, swimming, eating, sitting around in his anemone.....I was thinking to maybe quarantine him just in case? Although I hope it does go the way bigacre said. I'd hate to lose him.

Do you have info on how garlic helps with bacterial problems? Melafix works fantastic. You can even remove the fish & drop directly on to the eye. Bob Fenner wrote about using a Peroxide dip.

my Clarkii's eye is fine, he must have just bumped or scraped it on LR or something. Thanks for all the good advice everyone!

thank you....the author does not seem to be too convinced as to garlic's effectiveness....but I guess, I could try it, and according to the author - take the lazy way out. Oh well - it's Sunday - it's Chill-day :) I think I'll also try to catch him at night when he's snug & cozy in his anemone & put a drop or two of melafix in his eye....maybe that'll do it? I hope.

Try the garlic a few days and you may not need to put something on it's eye.
You can always do that if it gets worse.
Good Luck

Rod's Food{ring the bell} is the best first treatment for a sick fish.It is loaded with garlic.Ick will fall off and not return. It will also make your fish Ick resistant.I will never be without it.Just my opion.....

Get them garlic, lots of food soaked in garlic.

Rods food is soaked with garlic and chock full of vitamins. It is so great that it is practically a cure for alzheimers. As a matter of fact, since feeding them Rod's food, my fish have never forgotten to eat.
