Clark's question

I have 47 gallon column tank with some damsels that I'm slowly removing and some soft corals and a LTA. I want clown fish that will host to the LTA. I did some research and found that pink slunk clowns and Clark's host the best to it. Will ocellaris not host to it at all? Is it better to get 2 clowns? Or of I only get one will it be less aggressive like I've heard about damsels?

It really depends on the fish. Clarkiis will host damn near anything, and will almost always host any type of anemone that is in your tank. Ocellaris can be very picky, and many times they won't even host the carpets that they do in the wild. Also, any clownfish that are in pairs tend to be on the aggressive side, and clarkiis can be very aggressive.

But, in the end all fish have their own personalities. There are many people out there that have ocellaris hosting in LTAs.

If I do go with ocellaris are there any tricks to get them to host? Would true purculas have a better chance at hosting?

LTAs are a natural host for clarkii. Clarkii is the clownfish that can be found in all the host anemone species in the wild. LTAs aren't a natural host for ocellaris, and so it may or may not go in. As far as aggression, I don't think having one would make it more aggressive. In fact, if you have two and they spawn, you get the most aggression that you will see from clownfish.

Aggression is my biggest thing here. I want clowns to host but not be aggressive as I want a some what peaceful reef. But I guess having the damsels will help keep it somewhat aggressive -___- but then again that solves the problem of having to catch the damsels. Clark's it is

I went with the Clark's and they hosted within 10 seconds of being in the tank. Possibly to escape the damsels? I love it! And I can't wait to move them to the 75 once they get big enough.
Thanks for the feedback
