Cleaner Shrimp with eggs I think...

Both of our cleaner shrimp have eggs they are fanning under their bellies! We are so excited! However, what can we do, if anything, to ensure their survival, since we have a mandarin and a butterfly who will no doubt eat them. Should we isolate the shrimps in a QT? Please help! Thanks!

You could isolate them to give them a chance. But i think that most of them will die at birth....sorry but this has been just my experience. Good Luck though....

If your talking about skunk cleaners, I do not believe anyone has had repeatable success(i could be wrong though). If you are talking about fire shrimp refer to the link I included above.

I think Dr. Ron Shimek's ezines issue #2 on larval rearing for like $5.00 or something would be a great buy for you. Here is where you can find it:

This group of baby shrimp will most like die from starvation. So preparing for the next group would be a better Idea. You need rotifers, phytoplankton, and brine shrimp. Just go to the fish breeding forum and you will find everything that you need there about the cultureing of larval food. Otherwise you can buy it from a bunch of different sources.

The success I had was getting eggs(just like a lot of people), now I am at the end of being able to supply my own food for my larval shrimp indefineatly. However, I do not really want to move on from there until I get a decent microscope.
