Cleaner Shrimp

I have a question. My tank has just finished ââ"šÂ¬Ã…"œcyclingââ"šÂ¬Ã‚ a few weeks ago. I have added my snail clean up crew and they are happily munching on the generous amount of algae growing in the tank. I plan to start adding corals in about 1-2 months and then a few fish in October.

My question is when should I add a cleaner shrimp? Should I wait until I get my fish or can I add him sooner? Thanks.

You can add the cleaner shrimp now. I would add a bit of fish food now and then to feed it, but that might not really be necessary.

Thanks for the reply. I just went out and got a cleaner shrimp. Is one ok for a 29 gallon or should I have more? Thanks.

They don't really serve much functional value, IMO, but having a pair can be nice because their offspring add live food. One is fine, though, and maybe a better choice for a small tank.
