Hi ther,

Today i have purchased Cleaner Wrasse from the LFS, i did make sure it eats before i made my decision. I came home aclimated him for good while before introducing into the tank. Turned the lights off and let him into the tank, I have watched his behavior for while, and seemed like he was doing great. after about 20min went upstairs for dinner and when I came back he was gone, i looked for him for about 25min, with the lights off then on, but unable to find him. Assuming that he has found hiding spot and I am HOPING that soon he will comeout...

my question is:
What are chances of him showing up ?? as far as fish, i have yellow tang, hippo tang, naso tang and 2 clown fish... but none of them had issue with the Cleaner Wrasse.

any suggestions are highly appriciated...

thanks..

i like them plus i have 3 tangs..

I hope you didn't buy it to prevent ich in your 75 gallon tank. The best way to do this is to quarantine new fish (like the cleaner wrasse). The cleaner wrasse won't prevent ich and will more than likely slowly starve to death. Sorry to say the naso tang and hippo tang will quickly outgrow your tank.

On a side note, how old is this tank? Have your corals stopped dying? Have you gotten a handle on the parameters and gotten the tank stable? Did you qt the other fish in the tank?

the wrasse will more than likely starve to death in your tank, or he will continue to "clean" your fish and start damaging them. Cleaner Wrasse do not make good aquarium fish, cleaner shrimp are a much better choice.

Another option is captive-bred cleaner gobies, Gobiosoma oceanops. The neon gobies have similar coloration, but the added advantage of eating prepared foods. They also seem less likely to harass their tankmates (probably because they aren't dependent on cleaning other fishes for food).

All right,

Today I came home from work and see that the Cleaner Wrasse decided to explore the tank, seems like he likes he new house, funny thing was that he was nipping on everything around him for food, gave them daily meal and he was the first one to feeding corner eating like a pig . Looks like after all he is not only dependent on food from fish, but also prepared food as well.
to answer your question TampaReefer79, my tank is all under control, everything is coming back to normal, will update with pics shortly...
thanks again for the input...
