cleaning a maxi-jet 1200

I'd like to clean them up since I've never done it. What is the best way to go about cleaning the powerhead?

Take it apart, take out the impeller, clean w/a brush & soak in 50/50 vinegar/water overnight. Rinse & put back together.

If you have several to clean, leave one together and plug it in to circulate the vinegar/water in the bucket.

Yeah, if the pump is really encrusted, I'll run in the vinegar for a few hours to loosen things up, before the overnight soak.

The one cheap thing in this hobby: cleaning solution, vinegar - buy at Aldi for like 25cents!
