Cleaning a RSM

Cleaning is a relatively straight forward task.. But one thing I thought I'd ask about..

The front corners. A beautiful curve which I have quite a bit of difficulty cleaning. Most things have got a straight edge which doesn't work very well on curves. Does anyone have a trick or tip to make the cleaning easier?

I've only had my RSM for about 2 months now.. It's still cycling for all intents and purposes (still adding LR every fortnight as budget permits). Still want a relatively clean tank however.

So suggestions?

I use a razor blade but a good way to clean the corners would be a metal spoon. Either way works well for me to remove hard algae and coralline.

The small Nutrifin? magnet cleaner gets into the corners on the RSM. It is a long, narrow balck bar small enough to clean the entire curve of the glass without having to stick an arm in the tank

If it's just algae, one of those long handled cleaners with the rough sponge on the end, meant for glass, will do a good job in the rounded corners. If it's hard coralline I have the best success with a stainless steel tablespoon - you'll have to put your arm in the tank, and hold the spoon at the top wide part of the spoon, but it works. The spoon idea came to me after a long time wondering why they don't make a curved SS scraper to get coralline out of the rounded corners, then I realized I had the perfect thing sitting in a drawer in the kitchen! :)

i just use a peice of dls or hand held pad....for glass....i have a friend who scratched the living daylights outta the corners of her RSM and it looks soooooo bad.......

VCReefer26 - what did she use to scratch it? I've us the SS Kent scraper, razor scrapers, and the SS spoon and never scratched anything. But, I know that if you use a mag scraper or pad, and manage to pick up a piece of two of the substrate and drag it across the glass that will definitely scratch the glass! You can hear it scratching as you pull it across the glass.
