Just drop my skimmer pump in some vinegar and ro/di water. Should i leave it running or just let it soak and how long? I hope this helps my skimmer performance has been pretty week last two months or so and finally got a chance to do something about it.

FYI- I once left a pump is pure vinegar for 2 days and all the rubber parts disintegrated. All the o-rings and suction cups needed to be replace. Just a heads up. I know you cut it w/ some water and from now on I'll do the same.

HTH ;~)

Yea i wasn't sure on how much vinegar to use but its mostly water in there. I will have to keep and eye on it. So how long and keep it running? I haven't cleaned this pump in almost a year most think that is why my skimmer has been "sucking it up" lately?

I haven't had this problem before. For that matter - I have soak my equipment in stronger acid solution without any problems.

Funny you mention that, I just pulled my Seio pumps out of a bucket in about two gallons of water and a cup or so of vinegar last night that had been sitting a week. My thought was "Salt water is pretty corrosive, and afterall Acetic Acid is a "weak acid""

Lets just say if/when I sell the Seios, it will be a good oppurtunity for someone to convert to the magnet mounts.

Not all plastics or rubbers are created equal, the shaft seals and the o ring were fine, but the cups were toast. This is probably why you havn't had any problems Minh.......

I also use pure Vinegar and it is super cheap at Winco i usally get a big ole jug for a buck something. I sometimes let them soak for hours
