cleaning my 210g....suggestions

I finally will have time this sat to get started on my 210.
but first I need to clean the tank. any suggestions on how to proceed? I can't move the tank and it is sitting on the stand at a height of 6'.

how hard do you think it will be? I was thinking about putting a bucket filled with water in the center of the tank and just wet and scrubb. and then if it does not come clean, then just cry.

I gave up on the scratch. While I have read there are ways to remove the scratch, I am too scared to attempt it. I am afraid of doing more damage. I am just talking about cleaning all the dirt and dusk out of the tank and cleaning the inside glass.

What are you trying to clean exactly? Saltcreep? Coraline?

If its coraline I know just the trick!

just dirt and dust

Just hose it down with some water and your sponge....Nothing fancy if thats all your doing.

Scratches are time consuming but easy to remove. Go to your LFS and buy one of the kits for $30.00. Follow the instructions. Start out with the edge of the sponge and sand at 90 degrees until you remove the scratch, then switch directions 90 degrees and remove all the sanding marks. each time you get all the scratch/sanding marks out switch direction and go to one step finer paper. The trick is to remove all the sanding scratches from the previous step before continuing. Antic lights help see the scratches. Each time you change directions the area you are sanding will get bigger to remove all the previous scratches. That is why I say to start at 90 degrees and use the edge not the whole surface of the sanding sponge. Take your time and it will be worth it.

Just hose it down and use a sponge to wipe it clean and use a wet/dry vac to pull the muck out!
Just like I did with it!
Fortunately for you I did all the hard labor of cleaning it gently with a razor blade and tons of water!

just dirt and dust

If it's just dirt and dust, wouldn't it be easy enough to just use wet rags to wipe the tank down? You can even fill a spray bottle with water and vinegar and have at it. Use a Kent Scraper or a old credit card to scrape off any crusted dirt or calcium deposits.

I used a spray bottle w/ vinegar + water to remove build up.

As for the dirt/ dust, some old beach towels.

Wash, Rinse, Repeat...

My 240 is acrylic and had some help flipping it upside-down when I buffed/ cleaned it.

just stand on a chair and use a wet rag...

That is exactly what I did, the tank is clean! But ouch my shoulder is soar.

I even removed the old CL drain and I am going to replace it.
