Cleaning skimmer

Going to put skimmer in a bucket with vinegar/water should i run skimmer or just let it soak..

I do it the same way as well.. never had any issues...

I run the skimmer in half vinegar and half tap water. The vinegar makes it bubble up into the skimmer body and cleans it quite well, as well as taking care of any deposits inside the pump. I run it that way for perhaps twenty minutes or so, rinse it well and back in the sump.

I cleaned mine a while back by running it in a bucket with 50/50 vinegar/water. It did an awesome job.

I run it so that it gets in all the little nooks and crannies. I actually ran mine for 24 hours...a bit excessive....mayyyybe but its clean as a babies bottom!

I've been thinking cleaning mine in this manner. After your done cleaning, does the skimmer have to break in again?

So after running it with vinegar, are you suppose to rinse it. I know, this might be a stupid question.

If your going to run it, run it from the beginning, at least in IMO, otherwise you risk a "large" chunk of something that falls off from the cleaning choking the pump. (I always run mine)
I rinse after I clean, but nothing excessive. (people does vinegar... may mess with your params slightly but I've never noticed anything)
I've noticed that even if I unplug my skimmer overnight I get a new break in period.

While vinegar will not be detrimental it is better to rinse, purging any minute particles.
Always err on the safe side & you can't go wrong.

I just got done running mine in pure vinegar for about 18 hours, man it was nasty.

YES, rinse it well.
