Cleaning the impeller on a reeflow snapper pump.

Has anyone on hear cleaned the Impeller on the reeflow pump like a snapper or a dart.Mine is got a bad slime buildup and is making a humming noise and i think it has lost a little power.I have not cleaned it since it was installed about 2 years or so ago.I have heard there is a good chance the seals will leak if taken apart.And if someone has how do i go about it and did it leak after you did it.Thanks!

my Dart was running for a year and i pulled it apart. no leaks after taking it apart, but i did leave the impeller on. i pulled the front housing off and used a tooth brush to clean the actual impeller with it on the pump. i know this isnt what you were talking about, but it worked for me. (by the way, my housing and impeller were not very dirty at all......)
