Clicking , deciding what to do...

I still have not seen who is making the clicking noise, pistol or mantis or both. I don't really have a problem with them staying if they are not going to bother my fish. I have done a bunch of reading but get mixed answers.

So, anyone who has TBS rock that left there clickers in, did you have any problems with them and fish?

I have a small tiger goby in the one tank and that tank has at least one pistol shrimp in it. It has not bothered the goby. I have seen it chase things away from its hole but I haven't seen it actually kill anything (although obviously it is eating something).

pistols typically do not harm other tankmates. They have been known to savage unwelcome visitors to their burrows, but it is not in an attempt to eat them.

I had 8 or 9 mantis in my 125 package, and have caught all but one. I almost never see it. It definitely doesn't bother the fish. I occasionally see busted up shells or the odd crab demo, but if you want to keep him happy, just get some nerite snails. They love those thin shelled snails and will eat them first. I have many pistols. No problems there.

depending on tank size a mantis can bother fish but its usually only fish that stay low to the ground like gobies but in a large tank the chances are alot less that anything will happen. now CUC is a whole nother store a mantis will eat members of your CUC but its not hard to get reinforcements every month or 2.
