Climbing anemone

Why do anemones climb? Iv had my h.mag for about 2 months now, and hes been in the same spot since iv got it.But lately hes decided he wants to see more of the tank and has been moving around and ends back up in the same place where it started. Now today it is in the center of my tank all the way up to the water line....:crazy1:

Mags are light lovers, this is typical behavior. They will usually climb to highest point they can reach in order to absorb more light. That is why most people construct some sort of pedestal for them. Most of the time they will stay put on these and it makes a neat display as well.

Yea I have heard this but mine never did it till now. The rock that he was on was the highest in the tank about 5 in away from the top of the tank which a 175w halide is hanging about 12in above the tank.I guess i will leave him be and let it do what it wants.

I would say as long as he's happy and not near any pumps/powerheads that's probably the best approach. Just as a reference point my Mag is almost directly under a 400 watt MH that's about 12 inches above the water. It sits about 6 inches below the waterline and it still would climb higher if I let it.

Here's pic, bad one, but you kinda can get the idea.
