manny

yea but my don't have the om4 i wish lol to get one then ill do a difrent close loop so you gys tink is beter to keep it on all the time or try to use it like a lo and hi tide

Then do it, put it on a timer, if it works let us know, if it doesn't let us know too. the only drawback of turning of a close loop is all the water that remains inside the pipes while the pump is off becomes fouled, if you use the timer make sure not to turn the pump off for more than a couple of hours a t the most

Manny

You amaze me always trying to build the better mouse trap. Take a break, let it grow. But then, were would we all be at, if it wasn't for people like you." Still looking for them there oysters".

the only problem I see with that is that I dont think most pumps are designed to be turned on and off constantly. How long to u plan to set it on and off? every 15 minutes? every hour?

Manny one thing that you might want to try is put a solenoid or two in your system , turn them off, one or two feeds at a time. That way your pump will still be running and feeding your tank. So you will have flow all the time. Try it, and let us know if it works. You should save money that way to , as you are not stopping your pumps that way.

alot of people turn off there close loop setup during the night to simulate night tides, i did it for a while until i tied my chiller into my CL.

if you do a search, youll find ALOT of people turn theres off with np. but the majority just leave it on 24-7. theres alot of people that turn theres off over in europe beacuse they are really conscious minded when it comes to electrirty, evertyhing needs to run the most efficent over there because of such high electricty costs.

Dude you'll be fine. I run a Gen-X PCX-40 on an OM Squirt two way and I have it connected to my Reef Controller II. The RK2 turns my CL on about 30 minutes after my actinics come on. And turns it off about 30 minutes before my actinics come off. There on the whole time with my MH. I would say it's on for about 6-8 hours straight then off for the rest of the time. When I was first cycling my tank the water that would stay in the pipes would smell foul but that was months ago and now I have no problems what so ever. All params perfect week in week out.

Hope that helps bro.

Lou
