closed loop comparisons.. help a newbie!

I am at a crossroads trying to decide how to plumb my closed loop for my 30g aimed mainly for LPS and soft corals.

I am considering using a horizontal calfo style manifold above my tank like

or plumbing directly into the tank via bulkheads like this tank:

having the manifold would eliminate the need for drilling the glass, but i don't plan on having a hood, so it could be unsightly..
let me know what your opinions are (mr calfo's would be great too). thanks!

It depends on what your needs are. IMO you will get much more flow from the CL Manifold, and it's easier to install. Instead of a hood, can you make a wood rim that will hide the plumbing?

I love my dart and OM 4 way but it is a PITA to install
