Closed loop help.

does any one local to niagara falls/ buffalo area have one set up and running? Im dabbling in the future build area and i would like to use a closed loop or a series of them to produce the majority of my flow. I under stand the basic idea and how the plumbing is going to return but where do the input come from? mostly i want to know if i am going to use a reeflow hammerhead pump rated at 6000 gph how in the world do i keep stuff from being sucked into the intake pipes. at first i thought ill just put them in the overflow box but then i used the calculator to determine size required and it would need to be half of the tank (not gonna happen!!!!!!!!!!!) for you skepticals i am dabbling in the 350 miricles range and would ultimatly like to create 50x vol turn over with 2 closed loops and a return pump from sump located directly below tank in basment that means 3 hammer head gold series.

This build is solely in the reasearch phase now and may totally be a pipe dream but hey you never know!!!!

also note that the use of 2 loops is so i can use the RKE to slow the night time flow rates. thanks for the help in advance.

My input for my sequence 3200 pump is in the backwall of my tank. I use a two inch bulkhead and two inch piping, the bulkhead has a threaded strainer on it. Mine is sort of bulky but at glass holes.com(delete the space the language filters don't like it) have an intake I think they call the Alaskan that is a little more tidy. Its similar to their overflows but it has a removeable slotted strainer on it.

Thanks for the help. i looked on glass holes and all i found was the standard strainers. however i saw a strainer for a hot tub and thought possibly could work. mabey? anyone think of where to get one im shure their expensive at the pool store. also i wonder what the max flow rate on one of those is. it was about 5" od and looks like it screwed into a 2" bulkhead. i think it would be a clean look because its only about a 1/2" tall. my buddy said they come in all diff colors the one in his hot tub is cream but im shure they make black ones
