closed loop plumbing suggestion

should I use pvc or flexible tubing or it should not matter?

I will probably use SCWD, so that probably makes the choice flexible tubing, but wondering if there is any downside or caveat I should watch out for when doing the plumbing using flexible tubing.

I'm using PVC Spa-flex, advantages of both.

I would use the spa-flex as well with the scwd. Dont forget to use true-unions and ball valves as well. When I first got into the hobby I didnt use them everywhere I should have and it was always such a hassle to unhook something in the sump or a return etc. I always employ them now... makes life much easier.

so how should the spa-flex connect to the scwd? just insert and clamp? can barb fitting be used with spa-flex? or just slip pvc fitting with glue only?

The SCWD ends will fit right into the spa-flex (buy it by the foot at lowes or home depot) and then use one of the stainless screw clamps. very simple.

You can also use pvc glue on the spa flex around pvs pipe / unions, etc. or for other fittings, and use barbs and clamps ... Spa flex is great.
